      • An assay of the ingredients from many discount and mass-marketed pet supplement brands, using HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography), gas chromatograph, or mass spectrophotometry (mass spec), often reveals inconsistencies in the quality of the ingredients.
      • Some companies that sell finished pet supplements attempt to verify ingredient authenticity by using a low-cost method known as the "melting point." The problem with using the melting point test is that counterfeiters can find substances that melt at the same temperature as the real ingredient, thus enabling them to pass on an inactive agent as the legitimate ingredient. The quantitative analysis (HPLC/mass spec) mandated by IPS verifies and identifies not only the potency but the purity of our ingredients. If impurities are detected, the quantitative analysis can often identify them.

      • Where water is required in the preparation of an IPS product of we use a fully validated U.S.P. water filtration system. This is the same type of water purification system used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and uses filtration and reverse osmosis to remove organic compounds, pollutants, and chemicals down to 0.02 -0.10 ppm (parts per million).
      • Filtration scrubbers are used to clean the air in dust collection and exhaust systems.
      • Blending, tableting, and encapsulating rooms are supplied with HEPA-filtered air to help prevent raw material powder from inadvertently appearing in a product being made in an adjacent room.

In regards to Superior Absorption and Dissolution…

  • Supplements need to be absorbed to be effective.
  • If a tablet does not dissolve properly, it can upset your pet’s stomach and its nutrients will not be absorbed. Most supplements are densely compressed, up to 350 psi (pounds per square inch) in order to stuff as many ingredients as possible into one tablet.
  • Unfortunately, a pet’s stomach cannot dissolve these highly compressed tablets entirely, so a majority of the active ingredients are excreted, depriving them of the promised nutritional benefits.
